Anyone who has been here on the Maas will always come back.

Maasholm is a romantic, old fishing village at the end of the Oehe peninsula. With its small fishing port and the adjoining sailing boat harbor, it is surrounded by water directly “in” the Schlei in the Schleswig-Flensburg district. The community is a recognized recreation and holiday resort.

The circular route around the place is always worthwhile. This leads along a small path along the Noor, past the unspoilt boat stations, the shipyard and the idyllic village chapel to the pier. From here you can see the Schleimünde estuary with its lighthouse and the Schleimünde headland. The sailing ships that come from inland often pull a pearl necklace into the Baltic Sea. For early risers there is fresh fish from the boat, for those who want to sleep in there is the way to the fish smokehouse. "The best that can happen to a fish" say the fishermen ...

Maasholm itself is characterized by small, cozy, partly fishermen's houses, which closely line the narrow streets. The oldest are from the early 18th century. Each house has its own rose that is planted on the front of the house. Cars are taboo. There is a tiny bakery with a large selection on the cobblestone main street. Diagonally opposite there is a small grocery store that sells everything you need, including a lottery acceptance point. Small restaurants have an excellent menu and invite you to a cozy evening - some with a view of the water. The homemade cakes also attract many guests to coffee time. The very best snack bar for bratwurst, french fries and fish is in the harbor itself.

On the banks of the Noor you can often see swans up close in spring and summer. In autumn, winter and spring, on the other hand, the large collection of different flocks of wild goose is always a natural spectacle that is well worth seeing.

The most important basis for an extraordinary relaxation is certainly the constantly changing play of colors and shapes of sky and water in a beautiful, relaxed and natural landscape.

The locals say: Anyone who has been here on the Maas will always come back. How right you are ...
